The Sad Truth We’re Never Told…

In recent years, the allure of breast implants has captivated millions worldwide, with searches for “breast implant risks” reaching unprecedented levels. As a survivor of breast implant complications and an advocate for informed decision-making, I’m here to shed light on the often overlooked truths about breast implants and share my personal journey towards wellness.

The Reality of Breast Implant Risks

When considering breast implants, it’s essential to understand the potential risks involved. Research has shown a significant increase in autoimmune disorders, including arthritis and melanoma, among individuals with breast implants. These risks stem from silicone migration and chronic inflammation triggered by implants, facts often glossed over in pursuit of aesthetic perfection.

My Journey: From Illness to Empowerment

My own experience with breast implants started with hope, then quickly turned into a nightmare. From the moment I woke up I knew something was wrong. And although the picture above show’s me smiling, I never loved the appearance of my altered breasts and learned quickly that they would include chronic pain. I soon faced health challenges, including autoimmune issues and chronic inflammation. The toll on my physical and mental well-being was immense, leading me on a journey of self-discovery and healing.

Navigating the Unknown

As I delved deeper into the realities of breast implant risks, I discovered the importance of thorough research and hope to help humans make informed decisions.

Did you know that in 2022, approximately 2.2 million breast augmentation procedures were performed globally, marking a significant increase of 29% compared to the previous year? With the dramatic rise and popularity of breast implants, it’s crucial to understand the potential health sacrifices involved.

Silicone, used in ALL breast implants, as all shells are made of silicone, can migrate from the implant through the body and induce a chronic inflammatory process, stimulating the immune system. Studies have shown alarming risks associated with silicone implants:

👉🏼 6x greater risk of arthritis than the general population

👉🏼 4.5x increased risk of having a stillbirth, but not a miscarriage

👉🏼 4x greater risk of developing melanoma

If you already have breast implants, measuring specific autoantibodies like RF, APF, AKA, AFA, ANA, nDNA, ENA, and AAT is crucial to ensure your health is not compromised. However, it’s essential to note that breast implants can worsen symptoms for those with autoimmune diseases or those with a family history of autoimmune conditions.

HLA-DR53, a genetic marker, may predispose individuals to developing diseases related to silicone implants. Testing for this marker before surgery is advisable. Like any aesthetic alteration, thorough research and questioning are essential.

While breast implants can enhance our self-confidence for some, especially after mastectomy, the balance between health and happiness remains pivotal. It’s crucial to weigh the potential risks against the perceived benefits.

The Truth About Explant and Deformity

Deformity post-explantation is a risk rarely discussed but holds immense weight in the decision-making process. As someone who has experienced this firsthand, I can attest to the devastating impact it can have on self-confidence and mental well-being. Imagine starting back at negative zero, grappling with a body that feels foreign and unfamiliar. For individuals with body dysmorphia, a condition that affects far more of us than we realize, this experience can be especially traumatic. Every minor change becomes magnified, every perceived flaw a battleground. It begs the question – why wouldn’t this be emphasized to a patient prior to surgery? This unspoken reality underscores the importance of holistic wellness and embracing self-love practices before considering any cosmetic alteration.
